Slower Job Growth Predicted For Illinois In 2020

After a period of job growth, analysts are predicting a slowdown in Illinois this year.

A new study from Kiplinger's pegs Illinois’ job growth at 0.5 percent in 2020. That’s less than half of the 1.1 percent job growth in the state last year.

That was Chairman Bryan Gay of the Illinois Economic Development Association. He says the state will have to work hard to move past the challenges noted by Kiplinger's.

The economic and business magazine published the new data for Illinois as part of a survey for all 50 states. Looking forward to 2020, Gay said economic forecasters may be taking a nuanced view of job growth.

He thinks the state remains an attractive option for investors and companies when it comes to making business location decisions.
